Titan Group member’s Bio’s

TITAN Group is an independent producer of cement and other construction materials, with more than 110 years of industrial experience. Based in Greece, the Group has cement production plants in nine countries and employs more than 5,500 people worldwide. It is organized in four geographical sectors: Greece and western Europe; the USA; south-eastern Europe; the eastern Mediterranean. Throughout its history the TITAN Group has sought to combine the highest operational efficiency with respect for people, society and the environment. In the proposed project TITAN will contribute in the manufacturing, preparation and qualification of the nano-modified systems and in the verification of its suitability for the construction industry.

Furthermore, TITAN will be responsible for the coordination of the consortium and the dissemination of the new products by supporting the procedures for standardizing the novel materials for future markets. TITAN will be the key end user of the modified cement/concrete. www.titan-cement.com

Christos Leptokaridis >

Christos Leptokaridis (BSc, MSc ) is a civil engineer and concrete technologist with considerable experience in the areas of Cement and Concrete Technology, QA/QC and the development of new construction materials. He joined Titan in 2008, as the Head of the Group Concrete Laboratory, providing technical support to all the Concrete and Aggregates Operations of the Group, as well as pursuing several research initiatives.

He is participating in several Research programs that bring together both business and academic institutions. His interests include work on Hydraulic Binders for Road construction, Water recycling, Pervious Concrete, Mix design Optimization, High Performance Concrete and Mortars, Life Cycle Analysis for construction materials. In previous positions he has led teams developing and launching SCC and other value added products.

He is currently a member of a committee by the Ministry of Infrastructure, drafting the new Greek Concrete Regulations (expected to became national Law in 2014) He is also an assessor/expert for building materials certification and inspection bodies for the Hellenic Accreditation System.

Emmanuel Chaniotakis >

Graduated from the National University of Athens (Chemistry, B.Sc.) and University of Manchester /UMIST (Polymers and fibre science, M.Sc.).

Manolis joined TITAN in August 1978. Served in several positions including Quality Control Manager (Kamari Plant, 1983-1991), Director of Research Laboratory (1991-2000) and Director of R&D and Quality Department of the Group until 2010. As of 01/03/2010 he has been awarded the position of the Group Quality and Product Development Director.

Participation in several national and European research projects, regarding cement and concrete. Research activities include collaborations with Greek and foreign industries as well as Academic Institutions and Research Centers. Over 80 publications in refereed journals and conferences.

Dimitris Papageorgiou >

Dr. Dimitrios Papageorgiou graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras and holds a PhD in the field of catalysis from the same University.

After pursuing an academic career for 2 years he joined the building materials industry and since May 1998 he has served as Research Engineer, Research Coordinator and Research Development and Quality Senior Manager (current position) in TITAN CEMENT S.A.

Dr. Papageorgiou has participated in many TITAN GROUP projects concerning product quality, alternative fuels and alternative raw materials, environment, sustainability and innovation.

He has participated in several National and European Research Programs related to Cement and Concrete.

He is co-author in more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
